a slow day. I thought it was
a busy day when I walked in. I was
impressed with the size and the
“slow day” staff. The stylists were
attentive with their customers and I
felt the salon had a fine aura right
away.

I
asked Shai if what he would say
generally the salon specializes in
and he responded, “Clients with
curly hair.” So you could stop in

I received the ultimate color and
cut. I have been wanting something
that stands out and waiting for
someone to cut away at the length.

• Always use luke warm or cooler
water when washing hair
• Try not to wash hair every day, it
is best to try for every third day.
• When using shampoo, concentrate on

Wow, I just realized that I've
trusted my curls to Shai for almost
4 years now! A review is definitely
in order here! The best measure of
an amazing curly hair stylist is the
amount of compliments I receive
about my curls. Since Shai got hold
of my locks, not a week passes that
I'm not stopped somewhere randomly
and asked, "How do you get your
curls like that?" or "Who do you go
to?" My reply is always the
same...the secret is the haircut. At
least 5 of my co-workers and friends
with curly hair now see Shai, and
probably countless strangers who got
his name from me. I have a very
mixed-type head of curls, ranging
from course/kinky to straight to
wavy, and in my 32 years, I've seen
a million stylist who "specialize"
in curls. Bottom line, Shai knows
how to work with it all, he knows
how to read a head of hair, and
bring it out to it's curliest and
most consistent potential. I can go
a very long time between cuts from
Shai because of how well he shapes
it. I've never had a bad experience
with him. He is professional, warm,
and always listens. Seriously, there
was a time that I thought I was
moving from Los Angeles, and one of
my biggest stresses was figuring out
how to afford a plane ticket back to
this guy for my haircuts. lol! So

Review:
I have been coming to Shai at
Capella for more than 2 years now
and he is great! Before Shai, I had
always had cuts where the stylist
would comb out my curly hair when
wet and cut it straight across and
add layers. Shai is an expert on
curls and cuts the curls when they
are dry so that he can see how the
curls and layers fall. As a result,
the shape is always great with no
holes or uneven pieces or layers,
and it grows out beautifully (I have
longish hair and only get it cut
every 3 months). I also get color
from Shai - the red I get has faded
very quickly in the past from other
salons but seems to stay vivid for
much longer the way Shai does it. He
is also very focused on making the
color look natural and applies
different tones to the roots, on
small chunks, and on my brows to
make the color look less like one
uniform block of red. Also, the
salon is very pretty and relaxing,
Shai's assistants are always very
pleasant, and the atmosphere is
extremely professional with a
variety of product lines to try.

I met Shai in August of 2007, in the
professional capacity of reviewing
his skills with what is known as the
Deva Cut, a cut specifically for
curly hair wherein the hair is cut
dry and in its natural state. VERY
FEW people do this technique, and it
requires training with the
originator in NYC. Not expecting
much, I was thoroughly impressed
with not only the technique but the
man, Shai, cutting my hair. Though
curly/wavy girls anywhere on the
spectrum should come her for the
technique alone, it is Shai's skill
but mostly his warmth, humbleness
and knowledge that keep me coming
back. So much so that it is now
three plus years later, and I'm
writing my second review.
Additionally, I have turned down
professional work (and income) to
review other cuts because I really
don't want anyone else working on my
hair. But it's not just curly girls
who should come here; anyone should
experience his abilities with color
and cut. I've repeatedly told people
about my friend who has naturally
blond hair; however, when you meet
her you'd swear she was a naturally
born raven-haired beauty. If you
know anything about how hard it is
to do black, you'd realize what this
means. As for the salon itself, it
is lovely. Conveniently located on
Ventura Blvd. with parking, it is
open, airy and full of light. The
washing stations are equipped with
massage chairs, and the washers
skilled, polite and solicitous. I
believe there is even WiFi, and
though I may be imagining it,
champagne on occasion. COME!

What a great salon! Everything from
the service to the stylists was
awesome. Not to mention the end
result of my curly hair = ) I have
always had bad experiences when it
comes to getting my hair colored and
highlighted. So of course, after
reading the many reviews for Capella
Salon, I decided to make a long trip
out there and found the experience
to be completely worth it. Shai was
wonderful and is very skilled at
what he does. I highly recommend him
to anyone in search of a great
stylist/colorist. He is the only
person who has ever got the color I
desired and have it look the exact
way that I want it. Shai does listen
to what you want for your hair and
gives you exactly that. The few
people who have left negative
reviews on this site were probably
just having a bad day because I
don't know what they're talking
about! I can't wait to go back there
again. Definitely give this salon a
try!

I was so tired of my curly hair
never looking curly, the color never
being right, and just generally
unhappy with many bad hair days. One
of my patients came into the office
and I adored her curly hair. She
gave me the number to Capella Salon
and told me to ask for Chai...yeah,
yeah, yeah, one more experience in
the curly hair saga. I waited a few
months and became more exasperated
with my curls (or lack of) when I
finally decided to make the call.
What an experience! I live in
Manhattan Beach and Capella is in
Studio City, but you know women and
their hair!! We would drive anywhere
if we were happy! I walked into this
very interesting salon and met this
cute Israeli gentleman named Chai.
He cut my hair dry and he got my
color exact. I couldn't believe it!
My curls were back and I didn't look
like Blondie with roots anymore. My
hair had style and the color was
blended with dark and light streaks
that I had been asking for. I am now
a regular of Chai's and couldn't be
happier. I would drive for miles and
miles and miles and miles just to be
with you, dear Chai.

I read all the reviews for Shai and
thought he'd be great. I was wrong.
I went in for a consultation a week
before my appt., and I felt like he
thought I was nuts and wasting his
time. The day I go in, the
receptionist shows me where the
smocks are and then tells me to go
to Shai's chair. I had no clue where
Shai's chair was and he did not come
down to get me. So I show him a
picture of the bob I want and he
won't do it. I am not sure if he
didn't know how or if he really
thought it wouldn't look good on me.
He takes all of 15 minutes to cut my
hair dry all the while trying to
sell me the Deva products in his
salon, then sends me downstairs to
get it washed by a new assistant who
had no clue what she was doing. He
then disappears. After she's done
washing and pinning my hair she puts
me under a dryer for like an hour
and forgets about me. I look in the
mirror and she's getting her own
hair washed by someone. So finally
his other assistant comes over and
takes the dryer off me and takes the
pins out of my hair. It was parted
weird and was crispy. So $$$ later,
I would say it wasn't worth the
money. The people were not very
friendly, my hair didn't look good
and I felt guilty for not buying any
hair products. Oh and when I told
Shai that I came to him because he
had good reviews online, he told me
he had good writers!!! Don't waste
your money!

I had a very pleasant experience,
and received very helpful
information about how to reduce the
frizz (no more terry cloth towels!)
I have to admit that I was very
nervous going in, especially with
regard to cutting off the damaged
hair from straightening, but I am
pleased with the outcome. I am
attempting to grow out the curls,
but will definitely need to revisit
the salon (once I get a little more
length back) to trim more of my
mistakes off. I am just so glad I've
finally found a place for curl cuts
that won't send me home in tears.

which I liked better. I really liked
Shai. He did an excellent job

Well - I guess I'm in the (vast)
minority here, but I didn't have the
overwhelmingly positive experience
at Capella that everyone else did. I
made an appointment with Shai based
on the reviews I found on this site.
I knew he'd be expensive but I
wanted to treat myself. Sooo... I
went in with a pretty good idea of
what I wanted. I wanted to take some
weight and volume off, I wanted to
keep my bangs (which are the only
part of my hair I straighten) and
add more layers throughout. I also
wanted to even out the color, which
got gradually darker toward the
roots. During the session, Shai and
his assistant really gave me the
hard sell for Deva products through
every step of the process. I felt
like I was in an infomercial. Not
once was I asked how I generally
styled/washed/conditioned my hair.
Though they DID ask me which
products I used. It was just assumed
that because I didn't use Deva (I DO
use CG friendly products) that I
didn't know anything about what to
put on my hair. It was a little
insulting, actually. There seemed to
be an assumption that I'd be buying
the entire Deva line when I left. 2
hours and 250 dollars later, I
didn't really have exactly what I
wanted. Shai gave me what was, I'm
sure, a good haircut, for what it
was. But I just felt that it wasn't
exactly what I'd asked for. He
hadn't given me very many layers. He
hadn't really trimmed my bangs (in
fact he suggested I leave them curly
several times, and I appreciate that
he likes curls, but i KNEW i wanted
to keep my bangs straight at least
for a little while, and I shouldn't
have to repeat that a bunch of
times). To top that off, the way my
hair ended up being styled made me
feel sort of... frumpy. It was
really poufy and high at the top.
I'd go so far as to say I looked a
little soccer-mom-ish. Instead of
evening out my hair color by going
slightly darker, which was the idea
I'd gone in with, he'd talked me
into getting highlights at the
roots, which I felt "meh" about when
I saw them, and the way my hair was
styled just really disappointed me
overall. When I left the salon he
asked me which Deva products I'd be
buying. I didn't buy any, and
immediately pulled my bouffy
mom-hair back into a ponytail. I
called a couple days later to get
the cut fixed. I just wasn't pleased
with it. He couldn't fit me in for a
few days to fix the cut (which also
displeased me, because I would think
that when someone's not happy with
their cut you should make an effort
to fit them in as soon as possible).
When I went back in, he added more
layers, trimmed up the bangs, and
got it right the 2nd time (though
I'm having my color fixed by someone
else). Overall, Shai was a really
nice guy (and I actually feel guilty
for leaving this review after all
the glowing stuff that's been
written here), but I have to say
that I felt that he didn't fully
listen to me or make me feel like my
wants were important. It sounds like
a lot of people here have gotten
great cuts from him, and I think
that's awesome. But I wouldn't go
back. For 250 dollars I should walk
out feeling like a million bucks the
FIRST time.

dry, I went in for a cut and style
and had heard of Shai from the
website - naturallycurly. He spent 3
hours with and walked me through
step by step instructions on how to
style my hair and what products to
use. My curls have never looked
better, he helped me find a simple
styling solution when I used to
dread styling my hair. I got tons of
compliments from everyone at work
and people even stopped me on the
street praising my gorgeous curls.
For all you girls who have no idea
what to do with your curls or if you
are tired of what you have been
doing go to Shai you will be
astounded by his magic finesse with

I love going to the salon because it
feels like a really pampering
experience. The salon itself is
beautiful and feels open and
calming. The shampoo chairs are
awesome and everyone who's ever
washed my hair has done a great job
and made me want to take them home
to give me head massages all the
time. I also feel that it's really
important to you that I like my
haircut and that it looks the best
it can. The fact that you are so
cool about me coming back if any
stray pieces misbehave is something
I've never experienced and it proves
that you really understand curly
hair. Plus you make me feel like
you've been cutting my hair for
years which is nice. I've always had
a very positive experience all
around. And your sister is also
fantastic and has done an amazing
job on my eyebrows.

I am a consumer tester and
free-lance editor that has made a
conscious decision in the last few
years to encourage and embrace my
wavy hair. It is officially wavy;
the hair does not curl at the root.
However, with the right product and
technique it can be curly. And in
the wrong weather! Anyway, I have
consumer tested several products
from Deva Curl (awesome, btw!), and
decided after numerous poor haircuts
(where I was constantly showing
myself how one side of my hair was
off), I decided to test Deva's
technique of cutting hair dry and
curly. (Another note, I was
completely unable to find any other
stylists at this point willing or
able to cut hair dry, let alone dry
while curly). After interviewing
several stylists who are ceretified
in Deva technique, I settled on Shai
Amiel, owner of Capella Salon after
watching him work on two different
women with very different curls.
What an enjoyable experience the
hair cut turned out to be. After
recommendation of having not washed
hair in a few days, in its curly
experience, I arrived at the salon.
He painstakingly cut each curl in
relations to each other until he got
the shape he wanted. Then, after a
mimosa, I got my hair luxuriously
washed and conditioned, and then
Shai did something no other stylist
has done: showed me that the
technique of dealing with the hair
immediately after washing is just as
important. Squishing leave-in
conditioner into the hair, I was
then instructed to fling and flip my
hair around a bit, and then taking
product, hanging my head upside
down, squishing it into my hair and
then blotting with paper towels
(though a microfiber towel or dry
cotten t-shirt is good or better),
and you can actually SEE the curls
forming. After placing pins in the
roots of selected forming sections
my hair was dried. This has been the
best cut I've had in forever, and
it's two months in. He says it can
go another two to four months, and I
believe him. I can make it very
curly, or just wavy by putting it in
a towel without shaking and
scrunching. I've been in multiple
climates, and it just looks good,
even without product.

I put off cutting my hair for over a
year because I couldn't find anyone
who was willing to cut my hair dry.
Then I found Shai. I walked in
feeling apathetic about my hair.
Even my hair color was boring. Shai
asked me what I wanted and I assured
him, I didn't care. I had few
expectations--you know when you have
curly hair, you figure, no one can
do anything good with it. I walked
out of that salon with a sassy cut
and a deep, rich color. I wasn't the
only one to think so. My husband did
a double take and the following day
I literally received 20 compliments.
Shai gave me the perfect cut and
helped me to finally feel great
about having curly hair. And, while
he cut my hair quickly, I never once
felt rushed. Did I mention that he
happens to be a kind soul as well?

Shai at Capella Salon is the best.
I've been going to him for 11 years
now and I love to experiment with my
cut and color so he's tried
everything I that would compliment
my features and he always has great
input. My hair is naturally wavy but
never curly. During my last visit
however he used the Deva Curl
products and showed me this process
that made my hair so naturally curly
while maintaining luster and bounce
without any heat damage or frizz. I
looooved it. It took me a few tries
at home and a call to Shai to master
the technique but he was happy to
walk me through it again. So you
can't go wrong with him from product
recomendation to cut and color he's
fantastic and the salon is so
relaxing too. I always look forward
to my next visit.

intimidated by my hair. I have
naturally thick and curly hair, that
without the right cut, could be a
disaster. Other stylists have
literally gotten lost in my hair!
It's annoying and embarrassing. Shai
is completely confident, not to
mention competant with curls. He
understands that I don't want it
"too big" or "too full." He's cut it
short, he's trimmed it long. Shai is
a color specialist as well, and he
artfully highlights my curls to
perfection. I don't know how he does
it, but each curl has 3 colors
running through it, but blends
beautifully. He never tells me to
wear it straight. He's gotten me to
love my hair.

I go to Shai at Capella Salon. Shai
is great with my curly hair. He
gives really flattering cuts so that

Hi, my name is Lisa Bingham and I

hair. I found my stylist Shai at
Capella Salon over eight years ago
and have been loyal to him ever
sense he did my first hair-do at his
salon. I was impressed so much by
the way he could take my ideas and
reassure me he could make it happen
so I could wear my curly hair
straight and short if I like and it
would still look good when I wear it
natural again. Curly hair needs a
special understanding with the cuts
and color, going to Shai I have

it very easy. I knew I could trust
the referrals I read here. When I
called Capella Salon, I even had my
choice of 3 stylists who know their
stuff when it comes to curly hair. I
decided to go with the owner because
he also specialized in coloring for
curly hair. My hair looks so good.
It has shine, bounce and I just love
it !!! The color and haircut are
perfect. He knew exactly what
products I needed. I've had my hair
done with the best of N.Y. and I can
definitely say that Shai really
impressed me. It was a very good

I love going to the salon because it

calming. The shampoo chairs are
awesome and everyone who's ever

I am a consumer tester and
free-lance editor that has made a
conscious decision in the last few
years to encourage and embrace my
wavy hair. It is officially wavy;
the hair does not curl at the root.
However, with the right product and
technique it can be curly. And in
the wrong weather! Anyway, I have
consumer tested several products
from Deva Curl (awesome, btw!), and
decided after numerous poor haircuts
(where I was constantly showing
myself how one side of my hair was
off), I decided to test Deva's
technique of cutting hair dry and
curly. (Another note, I was
completely unable to find any other
stylists at this point willing or
able to cut hair dry, let alone dry
while curly). After interviewing
several stylists who are ceretified
in Deva technique, I settled on Shai
Amiel, owner of Capella Salon after
watching him work on two different
women with very different curls.
What an enjoyable experience the
hair cut turned out to be. After
recommendation of having not washed
hair in a few days, in its curly
experience, I arrived at the salon.
He painstakingly cut each curl in
relations to each other until he got
the shape he wanted. Then, after a
mimosa, I got my hair luxuriously
washed and conditioned, and then
Shai did something no other stylist
has done: showed me that the
technique of dealing with the hair
immediately after washing is just as
important. Squishing leave-in
conditioner into the hair, I was
then instructed to fling and flip my
hair around a bit, and then taking
product, hanging my head upside
down, squishing it into my hair and
then blotting with paper towels
(though a microfiber towel or dry
cotten t-shirt is good or better),
and you can actually SEE the curls
forming. After placing pins in the
roots of selected forming sections
my hair was dried. This has been the
best cut I've had in forever, and
it's two months in. He says it can
go another two to four months, and I
believe him. I can make it very
curly, or just wavy by putting it in
a towel without shaking and
scrunching. I've been in multiple
climates, and it just looks good,
even without product.

I recently moved to LA from NY,
where I left behind a fabulous
hairdresser who I had been going to
for over 7 years! I was considering
just waiting until I went back to NY
until my next cut...until I came
across Capella Salon on Citysearch
and the excellent reviews on Shai.
After reading about how his loyal
client's travel from afar to keep
going back to him, I was reminded of
how I would have done the same for
my stylist. I decided to go for it,
and I can easily say it was the BEST
move ever! Besides being so
friendly, Shai is a great listener
and wants and asks to hear what you
want with your hair. After he gets
your input, he uses his own talent
and artistry to design a beautiful
cut. He loves doing hair, he loves
his salon and his clients, and it
shows...he's even using his profits
to completely redesign the salon
instead of getting the car he
wanted!

I found Capella thru a referral
and I was so happy with my visit.
Shai was not only the coolest cat,
but an amazing artist. I've never

blew me away.

I have lived in many larger cities, and have gone to the best salons there are, and all i ever seem to come out with is the same color. I am very excited, I just visited Capella salon last week for the !st time, and Lisa did my color for me. I have never felt better. She took my streaky blonde hair and made it look very natural. I want to thank Lisa for doing this for me. I was very hesitant at 1st to let her try something new, for it always ends up the same. She spent 45 min. with me before we even started the service. Thank you again Lisa for taking the time to make me feel comfortable, and beautiful.

I was recommended to Lisa from my friend, who I thought was a natural blonde. I have my hair colored every shade there is, and I never got a natural looking blonde. Finally...something that resembles my hair from when I was a teenager. Thanks Lisa !!!!

Lisa did a lasting great job on my hair. I'm excessively judgemental when it comes to my hair because it's thin, not curly but not straight, and I have a face structure that's hard to flatter. It's rare for me to find a hairstyle I'm comfortable sporting but isn't boring either. I went into Capella Salon not knowing what I wanted so I told Lisa to just give me a change fitting for the the holidays. She took the time to find out what my style, regular routine, and preferred maintenance level were. Shen explained to me that I could go two ways, left the choice up to me and patiently reexplained things until I was comfortable with what he was going to do. Throughout the process she gave me the sense that I was still in control. Lisa listened to my questions, changed things when I had comments, and showed me how to fix my hair in different ways. At first I thought the cut was too drastic and that it would only look great styled by a professional. But I'm happy to report that I've been rockin' the cut for a month now. I only had to add blow-drying to my routine. Everyone, I mean everyone, loves the look! I've been asked out more in this past month than I have this past year! It takes vision and expertise to take the hair of a picky indecisive girl and make it into a feature that boosts her life up =) Thanks Lisa !

Kristen Arnhoelter has been my hair stylist fo over 7 years. I can honestly say I have never had a bad hair cut or color with her. Everytime I bring in a picture she gets it exactly right and I get compliments all the time. She has perfected the golden honey hue of my hair and no one ever knows I even color it. She is very sensitive as to what will work on me and I always have "happy hair" when I leave. I highly recommend her for any cut or color needs.

I recently had a haircut with Kristen and as always, I get compliments at work. I've followed Kristen to three salons and she has happily settled in at Capella Salon. The Salon has a good staff and vibe. When I have a haircut with Kristen it's such a pleasure. She's creative and talented but also a good listener and achieves the look I want. Kristen A. at Capella is the BEST. Her HAIR CUTS and BLOWDRIES are works of art. She LISTENS, and totally gets what it is you want. You walk out of there feeling like a million bucks, like you just spent the day at the Spa. And, one of the tests of a great haircut, it grows out beautifully too. She is also an amazing COLORIST. It is one of life’s pleasures to get GREAT hair care, and Kristen delivers every time. FIVE STARS!!!

tresses to. I moved here for acting,
and I've been through some horrid
hair catastrophes, so I am pretty
salon shy. When I saw all the great
reviews Kristen had, I decided to
book with her. She spent a ton of
time talking with me to try and
figure out what I wanted. I've never
had a stylist be that patient. We
ended up doing some duo-tone
highlights and she gave me a trim.
Throughout the entire process we had
a great conversation - she has a
really fun personality. I was
excited about the results, and I
swear, I have never gotten so many
compliments from men on my hair in
my life. One guy (who had never
complimented me before) specifically
said when he opened the door "wow,
you look beautiful"- and I KNOW it
was my hair that that prompted that.
Even a guy I'd been dating long
distance noticed (and he doesn't
notice anything, lol)- but when he
came into town weeks later and we
met up he commented "your hair looks
amazing- did you do something?"- i
know that sounds like a line, but i
swear its exactly what he said, lol.
Its growing out great, my highlights
compliment my skin perfectly and
make my hair look great up and down.
I can't praise Kristen enough- I
know she has a huge following and

Kristen has been cutting and dying
my hair for 7 years now! She has
seen me through my blonde days, my
brunette days, my long haired, and
my short haired days. She has seen
it all and has been incredible with
each of my different styles and
needs! I have extremely curly hair
and Kristen is a goddess when it
comes to curly hair. (I know she is
incredible with straight hair too,
I've seen her at work!) I recently
moved to Chicago and refuse for
anyone else to do my hair but
Kristen! Whenever I'm in LA, I make
sure to make an appointment with

and let me tell you, the girl has

I've been a client of Kristy's for
the past year. The condition of my
hair was pretty bad prior to me
going over to Kristy. She was able
to color my hair and match the most
perfect hair extensions to it. With
time, not only did my own hair grow
out, but it also improved in
texture. The hair extensions
actually helped my own hair! I'm a
model, so my hair goes through a lot
of styling. Kristy has helped me
maintain my hair in good and healthy
condition inspite of all the styling
that it goes through while doing
photo shoots. The best part, is my
extensions. I love them. They look
beautiful and natural. I've had my
extensions put in by other hair
stylists, but they never lasted long
enough or looked good. Kristy has
done an amazing job with them over

Kristen Arnhoelter is incredible. i have been going to Kristen for several years now and i truly trust her for she has great judgement on what fits each of her clients and never does anything without my consent. i am extremely picky especially with my hair and Kristen is always making me even happier. every client i see leave has a smile on their face and gorgeous hair. i never wanted to color my hair but when i first started going to Kristen i felt ready to take it to the next level and she has never steered me wrong! hair cuts, treatments, and/or coloring she is a perfectionist and always goes beyong satisfying her customers. After several years she has moved salons and i feel this fits perfectly for everyone and especially Kristen. it is truly an environment for her to work her magic and conclude is marvels. definetly a perfect place i enjoy each and every visit!

I just got back from having my hair
colored and cut by Kristin at
Capella Salon. She did an amazing
job, she did exactly what I wanted
and my hair looks fabulous. Not only
is she talented, she is an amazing,
thoughtful person. I'm so glad I
took a chance and went to a new
person. Kristin will have me as a
client for as long as she does hair!

Kristen is THE BEST! I have followed Kristen to three Salons now, where she has finally found her best home, at CAPELLA'S. This is due, I believe, to her innate & wondrous talent, care and abilities, but also to the PRODUCTS that Kristen works with at Capella. They are of the highest standing! I have found them no where else. Not at this level. For the best colour, cuts, and blowdrys, Kristen is "IT" for me. The Salon is always open, or so it seems, and emergency perfection is easily accessible from a variety of talented and caring professionals. How unique! WOW! Kristen leaves me speechless
after each haircut! It just keeps
getting better every time I go! Let
me tell you something ladies, this
girl knows her stuff! 1. She's
honest 2. She takes her time 3. You
can do what she did at the salon...
AT HOME! What else could you ask
for? Don't you hate it when you go
for a cut and they make it look so
good there but you don't want to
wash your hair for days because you
know you can't make it look as good?
Well, not the case with Kristen.
What you see is what you get. She
cuts it in a way where you don't
have to TRY to style it, the hair
just falls where it should. I love
her and my hair loves her more!

I never take the time out to right a
review, but I had such a great
experience I had to leave one. I
just moved here from San Francisco
and I was looking for a new salon.
I'm so glad that I found Capella
Salon on Citysearch! There were so
many great reviews about this salon
that I had to try it. KRISTEN was
the BEST hair stylist I've ever had!
She made me feel very comfortable
and really listened and answered all
of my questions. She has such great
skills and knowledge about all types
of hair, from super curly to my
super straight Asian hair. I've gone
to many salon's and some costing
hundreds of dollars and this salon
is by far the best. I will
definitely return for another visit.
And I've received many compliments
about my hair. Thank you! Easy
parking and they take credit cards
no cash needed even for tips, a big
plus.

I visited Capella Solon recently for a color correction. I’ve been dying my hair black for a million years and thought it was time for a change! Amazingly enough we got my hair a soft medium brown and it wasn’t even damaged!! Even wet I could still run my fingers though it!! I won’t go to anyone else but Kristen (who is upstairs in a kool loft) for my color. Oh and the products they use smell fantastic!!!

I have dark blonde hair and wanted to lighten it up a bit with some highlights. I went to Lisa who took the time to really listen to what I wanted and spent a couple hours thoroughly giving me my highlights. She suggested two different blondes to complement my actual color instead of just one-toned highlights. They came out beautifully- exactly how I wanted them and now I no longer have fear of getting highlights. Lisa thank you for your beautiful work.

I was a little apprehesive to invest in hair exstensions. But a friend reccomended Kristy at Capella Salon in Studio City and it was amazing. I have thin hair with no body and when Kristy was done I felt ten years younger and my husband said my hair looks our first date. absolutely no one colors it as well
as she does! I moved here a year ago
and was devistated about leaving my
hairdresser from home. Not only has
she eliminated that despair but
she's better than I ever could have

For many years, I have had hair
extentions and color done by some of
the finest hairstylists from New
York to Los Angeles. Recently, a
friend recommended KRISTY at Capella
Salon in Studio City. She swore that
I would love KRISTY and her work.
WOW was she right !!!!!! My hair has
never looked so beautiful, shiny and
natural !! I've since referred
KRISTY not only to my friends, but
my clients too.... There's not a day
that goes by that someone I know
doesn't say, "Francine, you look
MARRRRVELOUS"! And that's why
KRISTY, you're the best and I'm
never going to any one else !!!

Kristy Prentice is fantastic!! She
does the best color, and cut for my
hair. I had a hard time finding
someone who was really good with
blondes, and she is amazing!! She
also cuts my hair really well for
the shape of my face. I am always in
a great mood after I leave the
salon! As far as her personality is
concerned she is really easy to talk
to, and she listens to my specific
wants, and needs for my hair. She is
on top, and really into what she
does, and you can tell it makes her

Just thought I'd drop a note to let
everyone know that this is the salon
to go to! Shai, the owner of the
salon, has been coloring my hair for
the last 10 years and it gets better
everytime! I've never had the same
look and I always get compliments on
the color no matter where I go. We
women make a lot of sacrifices in
life, but ladies... your hair
shouldn't be one of them! PS...Even
my boyfriend stopped going to the

I've been going to Capella since
early this year (06) and couldn't be
happier. Lisa gives me a great cut
(first really flattering short cut
I've ever had!) that's easily
maintained between visits. Also
after dozens of tries at coloring on
my own, she finally found the
perfect shade that I'd been trying
to get for ages. I'm really glad
someone at work recommended this
salon, and I'd recommend Lisa to
anyone!

When I went in to see Lisa to get my
highlights and base done, I didnt
even realize how flat my color had
gotten!!!! She did a pre-cleansing
on my hair (it was dull and drab
from the color build up) And WOW
what a difference. I look like I
have a hair like a teenager again. I
have never written a review before,
but I have never felt so great as
when I left the salon. (My boyfriend
even noticed) If you are looking for
a great colorist...see Lisa...shes a
pro!!!!

After I had moved to Los Angeles and
have survived several salon visit
disasters (which were expensive and
accompanied by the super snooty
arrogant attitudes one often comes
across in the city in places that
want to present themselves as trendy
and fashionable), I resigned to
having to wait for my next trip to
New York to go to the hairdresser.
If it sounds quite extravagant, it
indeed was! very little time to
dedicate to styling in the morning
-- a combination that requires high
New York every single time I needed
a haircut, I decided to give it
another shot in New York. LISA DID
WONDERS WITH MY HAIR!!! She cut my
hair BEATIFULLY: the proportions of
the layers are perfect, the hair
feels and looks full and bouncy, the
layers around my face are extremely
flattering and I don't have to do
anything with my hair but let it dry
on its own! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Lisa! I also had her put a few
highlights in the front...I cant
believe how just a few brightened up
my face. And the dimension it gave
to the cut! She is extremely skilled
and has a perfect sense of style --
a rare combination that makes it for
somebody you can trust with your

Capella Salon is truly one of the
best deals in Los Angeles. While
nice hair doesn't come cheap, the
prices here are far more reasonable
than anywhere else. The staff is
extremely friendly and considerate
and the customer service is
excellent overall. All of the
stylists are well trained artists,
but they do not try to impose looks
on their clients. They only make
suggestions, and then allow the
client to have the final say. I
would recommend allowing them to do
what they suggest however, I've
never had anyone there be wrong.
Lisa is excellent, and everyone else
I'm sure is as well. I will
definitely be back for my next visit
in 5 weeks.

When I lived in LA I used to go to
Capella Salon to get my hair done by
Shai... Everytime I left the salon I
felt amazing, I would make heads
turn and get complements on my hair
where ever I'd go. 2 yrs ago I moved
to Hawaii and have tried to many
diff. stylist and salons-- Not One
Came close to doing my hair half as
nice as Shai.... After 2 years I
reached a conclusion- fly to LA and
see Shai-- It's worth the plane
ticket expense! Sounds extreme, I
know, but I swear he's worth it...
He does amazing work with color,
highlights, cut, blowdry and just
everything... Totally perfect! There
has been so many times I wasn't sure
how to get the color or style and
just told him to do what he wants
and not once was I disappointed. I
will never try to find another
stylist, no matter where I live- I'd
fly from anywhere to get my hair
done by Shai.

I have been a client of Shai's at
Capella Salon for over 7 years. I
drive up from Huntington Beach (50
miles, one way) regularly and
wouldn't think of going anywhere
else to have my hair done. Shai
takes my needs and desires into
account when cutting and
highlighting my hair. He and his
assistants take excellent care of my
hair and I have gotten compliments
on it ever since I started going to
Capella. I continue to get
compliments on my hair (both style
and color) even on the days right
before my next appointment. I love
the flexibility of Sunday
appointments. This allows me to
drive the freeways when there is
less traffic and congestion. In
fact, until my daughter moved to
Northern California, we would have
appointments together with Shai on a
Sunday and made it a special
mother-daughter day. And Shai is
such a versatile hairdresser that he
would do very different styles for
each us and have us looking our
best!! Not only do I get wonderful
hair treatments at the salon, but I
get help selecting the right hair
care products for use at home. I am
made to feel like a valued family
member at the salon and always enjoy
going to my appointments. If you are
looking for a great hair salon, look
no further than Capella!!!

I searched high and low to find a hair salon that could cut curly hair without turning me into a poodle or triangle head. I have to say, I finally found it! Keyonna gave me the DevaCut which is a dry cut for curly hair. I know it sounds strange but it really works. Keyonna also introduced me to the Deva hair care products. I love them! My hair use to be frizzy and unruly, but now it's soft, manageable and best of all - shinny! I just love it. I highly recommend the salon and Keyonna if you have curly hair.

If you are black or of mixed race or
any race for that matter, Kiana will
hook you up...She does the best flat
iron without the heat of regular
salons. I went in to get highlights
and it turned out to be the best
thing I could have ever done. She
was quick, efficient and very nice.
She even told me that if I didn't
like it in a couple of days, I could
come back and she would adjust the
color. Now that is great service
with a great smile to boot.
